Mr. Carlisle retired from the State of Alabama Vocational Rehabilitation Services after serving 37 years. He is a class of 1960 graduate of Vigor High School and a 1964 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama in 1967. He later attended the University of Southern Mississippi Doctorate Program.
Mr. Carlisle was an active member of Moffett Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and anything involving the great outdoors. He loved being involved in all of the lives of his loved ones and was a dear friend to many.
Mr. Carlisle was preceded in death by his son Bradley Carlisle, his brother Joel Nelson Carlisle, his mother Mavis Opal Carlisle, and his father Joel Robert Carlisle. Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Carlisle of 49 years, his son Barry Carlisle, five grandchildren Hannah (Derek) Carlisle Fussell, Colton Carlisle, Taylor Courtney, Landon Carlisle, Annie Carlisle, Lael Carlisle, one great-grandchild, Hudson Fussell, and one brother Dudley Carlisle.
The Carlisle Family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Cameron and his staff at the Mitchell Cancer Center for their care and compassion during Mr. Carlisle’s illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Moffett Road Baptist located at 5555 Moffett Road, Mobile, Alabama, 36618. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. til 1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Duane Newton, Nathan Pope, Pete Rye, Jimmy Nelson, John Gregory and James Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mr. Carlisle Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to Moffett Road Baptist Church.
