Archie Clifort Moore, Sr., age 78, was raised in Prichard, AL and spent the remainder of his life in Mobile, AL. Archie passed away April 29, 2022, at Saad Hospice Retreat surrounded by his loving family. He attended Vigor High School and then enlisted and served in the U. S. Marines. Archie’s career as a service engineer spanned companies of Moore Business Forms, Peak Technologies, and R. R. Donnelly until his retirement. Archie was a former member of the Mystic Stripers; he was a 50-year Mason of the Loop Lodge F&AM. Archie loved his family and friends. He proudly talked about his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One could hear him boast about teaching golf with oldest granddaughter, Alex, playing Zelda with grandson Sterling, or having a shopping spree with granddaughters Maura and Aisley. In earlier years he loved sharing golf with his son, Cliff, brother-in-law Johnnie Carpenter, and best friend, Tommy Williams. His other passions included shrimping, fishing, reading, and calling his loved ones and friends checking up on them or just to say “I love you”. Archie was known for talking to strangers in stores, showing them a picture from his wallet of his wife from the year of their marriage, or stopping someone and saying he knew their middle name. In response to their question as to what that was, he would reply “trouble”. So often people would say “here comes trouble” when they saw Archie. He loved eating Mexican at Aztecas in Tillman’s Corner and entertaining their other patrons with conversation. His special friends there included Ramon, Armando, and Orlando. Before entering the Marines, Archie met the love of his life, Pat, when he was working at McDonald’s Hamburger in Toulminville, AL. They married in 1966. Archie will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat, son Archie (Cliff) Moore, Jr. & daughter-in-love Wendy, and daughter Lorraine (Lori) Zachary (David), his four grandchildren Alex (Leland) Dunning, Sterling Moore, Maura & Aisley Zachary, two Great-Grandchildren Wyatt & Rogan Dunning; sister-in-love Lilly Gainell (Doug) Ray, his brother-in-love Jerry (Lisa) Tillman; his sister-in-love Mae Jewel Moore, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond E. Moore II & Alverta Jenkins Moore, his grandparents who raised him Alba & Ruby Jenkins, his twin brother Albert W. Moore & Raymond E. Moore, III (Buddy). The family wishes to thank the nurses & doctors of Mobile Infirmary Hospital SICU and especially for the tender care given to Archie and his family by Saad Hospice including the families of Saad, Dunning, and Fulgham.
Visitation will be held at 10-11AM Wednesday, May 4, 2022, for Archie at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Dauphin Island Parkway. The family will then attend the graveside service of our precious son-in-love David Zachary in the Pinecrest Cemetery at 11AM. Procession will then follow to Magnolia Cemetery at Ann & Virginia St. for the graveside service for Archie. Service for Archie will be conducted by Pastor LaRue Carraway. Pallbearers will be Cliff Moore, Sterling Moore, Leland Dunning, Jerry Tillman, Nathan Tillman, and Lee Dickson.
