Antionette (Mickey) Caruso Williams passed away the morning of Saturday, April 2nd. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Robert A. (Bob) Williams, Sr., her parents Anthony and Marie Caruso and her siblings Mary Louise, Freddy, Patty, Henry, and Gloria.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Robert A. (Bobby) Williams, Jr. and Ronald Mark (Ronnie) Williams, her daughter in law Elsa, her beloved granddaughter Isabella, her sisters Janet (Don) Neighbors, Carol (Ray) Grass, Sharon Caruso and Susan (Tony) Romano, her brother-in-law Gene (Glenda) Williams, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and her devoted caregivers.
Mickey was born on August 17, 1937 in Pennsylvania but spent much of her youth and early adulthood in Jacksonville, Florida. It was there, on a blind date arranged by mutual friends, that she met her partner for life, Bob. They were married at Grace Lutheran Church on February 14, 1959. They lived in Jacksonville for a few years before moving to Macon, Georgia and then Orlando, Florida before moving to Mobile, Alabama in 1970.
Mickey was involved in numerous civic organizations including The Arts Patron’s League, the UMS Mother’s Club, the Garden Club and her sorority Beta Sigma Phi which named her Mobile’s Woman of the Year as a tribute to her volunteer work. She always treated her son’s friends as if they were her own children and delighted in being called “Mamma Williams”, her sandwiches became legendary.
Mickey enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening, decorating, Mardi Gras, the beach, spending time with family and watching “her boys” the Alabama Crimson Tide. Her greatest joy over the last 18 years was spending time with her granddaughter and watching her grow into an accomplished young lady.
Although Mickey lost her mobility for the last 15 years of her life; she still enjoyed a good joke, a delicious meal and taking care of her family. Mickey’s acceptance of her physical limitations taught us all a lesson on handling life changing circumstances with grace. Mickey’s legacy will be the laughter, compassion, and unconditional love she shared with so many during her 84 years.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 23rd from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile. A grave side service will follow.
