Andrea was raised in rural Ellisville, MS and later moved to Yazoo City, MS. Her early teen years through high school graduation were spent in Pascagoula, MS. In pursuit of her love for nursing, she worked each summer at Singing River Hospital prior to her nursing education. She attended Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in Mobile, AL and graduated from Jefferson Davis College School of Nursing in Gulfport, MS where she was named one of three “Outstanding Student Nurses” in Mississippi. She went on to serve as a nurse in a number of different capacities throughout her nursing career. She put her heart and soul into her patients, their families, and all of the doctors she worked with. One of her greatest professional accomplishments was authoring a book about caring for terminally ill patients in their home
(“Janie Comes Home”).
Bobby and Andrea spent their wonderful 53-year marriage enjoying all of the things they loved to do together, including spending time with their five grandsons, attending sporting events, vacationing in the mountains and at the beach, and traveling overseas. They met in 1968, and married on December 13, 1969. They built their life together on a solid foundation of faith, love, and trust.
Andrea’s passions in life were her family, nursing, gardening, music, and her faith in Christ. She enjoyed working in the yard, playing the piano, Auburn football, chatting about her family history, and gathering her people for holidays. She truly loved others better than herself. She never met a stranger and made everyone she met feel special. She will be missed by all who knew her.
