She is survived by her loving son, Dr. John C. Green (Debbie) of Demopolis, Alabama; three cherished grandchildren: Dr. John C. Green, Jr. (Dr. Kelly) of Fairhope, AL; Ashley DeAndrade (Dr. Kevin) of Mobile, AL; and Kathleen Wideman (John) of Demopolis, AL. Ruth was also the proud great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren: James, Olivia, David, Alice, and Lillian Green; Michael, Margaret, Thomas, Robert, and Andrew DeAndrade; and Peyton and Anne Barrett Wideman. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Susan Turberville of Fairhope, AL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, John Robert Green, her parents, William C. Martin and Polly Martin of Mobile; her brothers, William C. Martin, Jr., Percy F. Martin, and James Frederick Martin; her sisters, Mary E. Rivers, Bernice Blackmon, and Janet Jackson.
Ruth was a graduate of Murphy High School and retired from the State of Alabama, Department of Education, AVRS after 25 years of Service.
Ruth’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire and guide her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Ruth's life officiated by Pastor Brent Shaw will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Friday, January 3, 2025. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am also at Pine Crest on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be, Dr. John C. Green, Jr., Dr. Kevin DeAndrade, John Wideman, James Green,David Green, Michael DeAndrade.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairhope First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section St. Fairhope, AL 36532.
