Alma devoted her career to the University of South Alabama. She started her career in the Speech Pathology Department. Through diligence and hard work, she ultimately advanced to the position of Administrative Assistant to the President, Dr. Frederick P. Whiddon.
Aside from her children, Alma’s passion was playing duplicate bridge at the Mobile Bridge Center with her lifelong friends, achieving the rank of Life Master. Alma and her friends took many cruises and trips to faraway places such as Italy, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Belize, Jamaica and Cozumel.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Jemison Denson, Jr. and her loving son, Richard Stephen Brantley, survived by wife Wanda. Alma is survived by her daughter Kathy (Melvin) Dunn, sons, Woodie (Amanda) Brantley, Jeff (Pat) Brantley, Mark (Ken) Brantley, 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Alma is also survived by her sister, Phyllis (Lamar) Lee and brother, Robin (Ann) Denson.
Alma’s strength, intelligence and humorous wit will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
