Alice was born in Stockton, Alabama to Roland and Aza Lea Thompson, although she resided mostly in Mobile. She attended Murphy High School, Class of 1949, where she met her future husband of over 70 years, Luther James, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jessie “Buddy” Thompson; and one child, Lee James.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband, Luther James, Jr.; children, Gary James (Jane), Cambridge, MD, Rhonda Richburg (Ken), Mobile, AL, and Dana James, Lakewood, CO. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was a devoted friend to many. She was admired and deeply loved by her family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
