Alana “Bunny” Moore Howard, 75, of Mobile, Alabama was born on August 24th, 1947 in Tupelo, MS. Bunny entered eternal life peacefully on May 17th, 2023 after battling a progressive respiratory Illness with grace, dignity and courage. She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Gray Moore Sr., her mother, Martha Elizabeth Leverett Moore and her beloved brother, Jack Gray Moore Jr. (Jackie/BJ).
Bunny is survived by her husband Charles Daniel Howard, her brothers Willard Bruce (Shannon) Moore, Daniel Keith (Joy) Moore, her daughters Julie (Billy) Carter, Lindsey (Brandon) Oliver, Donna Gaye Howard, her son (Jack Daniel (Amber) Howard, and her grandchildren William Carter III, Jack Oliver, Alana Oliver, Ian Busby, Brennan Howard, Ivey Howard, Jack Howard and Mylah Howard, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
After graduating from Murphy high school, Bunny earned her Cosmetology degree from Mobile Beauty College. She opened Bunny’s Hair fashions and continued practicing cosmetology until her father became ill with heart disease. At that point, Bunny stepped in to help her father by managing his pharmacy, Westlawn Drugs. She always worked hard to make the customers feel loved and well taken care of.
Bunny was a well-respected and dearly loved hairdresser in Mobile, AL for more than half a century. She owned Bunny’s Inc. hair salon with her husband Charlie for the last 25 years. She retired with over 56 years in the beauty industry on December 31st, 2021. Bunny used her talents to share her love with others. She truly enjoyed making her clients feel happy and beautiful.
She was a member of Government Street Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her illness progressed. She always cherished giving her time to the Homeless Women’s ministry where she even solicited other community hairdressers to provide beauty services for women in need.
Bunny was happiest when she was with her family. Charlie was the love of her life – they were to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary June 19th. He never left her side. Their marriage was genuine and blessed. She adored her children and grandchildren. It was her top priority to make sure they always appreciated and enjoyed life, that they were loved more than they ever knew, and that they had the best there was to have. NOTHING was too good for her babies.
Bunny’s beauty, love, and strength made her abundantly special. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She genuinely loved everyone. She was a shining light to the community that will be greatly and sincerely missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to invite you to celebrate Bunny’s life on Friday, May 26th beginning with visitation with the family from noon until the time of funeral services at 2pm at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL 36605. Dr. Charles Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
