Addie Laurie DeGruy Hines

Mrs. Hines was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. She was a graduate of Bishop Toolen Catholic High School and retired from Dillard's Department Stores (formerly Hammel's and D.H. Holmes).

Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Eugene Hines, Sr. "Gene"; her parents, Alphonse and Ruby DeGruy; and her sister, Janice D. Sherrin.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Virginia D. Oden, and sisters, Juanita D. Lyles, and Florestine D. (Jerry) Callaghan; her children, Mr. Walter Eugene Hines, Jr. (Diane), Mrs. Antonia Hines Odom (Wayne), Mr. Randy Lee Hines (Denise), and Mrs. Kandy Hines Whitfield (Whit); her ten grandchildren, Dina H. Blankenship (George), Carey H. Clark (Sean), Gene Hines (Hayley), Brent Odom, Lindsey O. Robinson (Jason), Nicholas Hines, Sarah W. Hickman (Walton), Judson Odom, Whit Whitfield, Jr., and Scott Michael Hines; her twelve great-grandchildren Ashlyn, George and Will Blankenship; Cash, Stella and Beau Hines; Hayden and Addie Clark; Addie, Ward and Anne Miller Hickman; and Evan Robinson; special family, Vergia Chandler, Rita Hartley, Elvine McAdams, Margie Little, Shirley McDonald, Gamma Arata, and Janet Lee; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

The family would like to offer special thanks and love to Lillie Kinney and Amelia Pierce. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011, from Little Flower Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
