I have often thought about Coach Simon as I knew him in 1986/87 when he coached my son Benjamin in Fullerton who now lives in Stockholm, Sweden with his sons. Coach Simon was a kind and gentle man who quite often drove Benjamin to games along with his son Miles and we were so grateful to him. Fond memories of a wonderful man. It was an honour to know him.

First met Walter in our Junior year of high school (Roosevelt High-Boyle Hts.) Always friendly never rude. In 1967 while I was stationed in New Mexico I found out he was now attending U. of Utah.  Since Utah and N. Mexico were in the same conference, I had the pleasure of watching  Walter play four times . We hooked up a couple of times after the games and he was the same nice guy I knew in high school. RIP my brother!

 I first saw Walt when I was in junior high school. My dad brought me over to watch FJC play the UCLA frosh team.  I was as much impressed by Walt as the entire UCLA team. He and Archie Archuleta had quite a game against UCLA. Five years later I was playing for Mo Radovich and Archie Archuleta!  Walt would stop by on occasion and that's how I got to meet him. He was and always has been an inspiration.  My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

At South Gate High, I saw Walt play at Roosevelt in 1965 -- one of the best I ever saw.

I was reminded of watching Walt at Fullerton JC holding his own against a UCLA freshman team that featured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor).  Just one of many great memories of Walt's playing days at FJC.  I remember him as being friendly, modest and always smiling.

I saw Walt last July, in Orange County, for the first time since my college days with Coach Brown. He did something really nice that I will never forget. Condolences and prayers to Charisse, Miles, Charlotte, Coach Brown and the rest of the family. Rest In Peace Walt.
