Robert L. Akers, 85, of Mission Viejo, California, passed away peacefully at home, June 6, 2016. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Robert Akers and Lucille Hanks. Bob schooled at Millersburg Military Institute, Kentucky where he earned the title of “Track Star” & awarded many medals to be proud of. At age 17, Bob met the love of his life Virginia Lee, at the ball park where he played baseball with her brother Jack Lee. They married a couple of years later, enjoying almost 66 years of marriage together. Bob’s career included Journeyman Carpenter, East Cleveland Firefighter and various Management positions within the floor covering industry. He was a passionate sportsfan especially Baseball and an avid bowler who at age 78, bowled the perfect series. Another huge enjoyment of Bob’s was listening to Big Band music & spending time with his loving family & puppy dogs. Bob is the beloved husband of Virginia B, cherished father of Robert M, Edward T (Veronica) and Virginia L "Ginger" (John Braun), dear brother of Charles Akers and Marion Simon, revered grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle of many and a generous friend to many others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.
