David (or, Dave, as he was lovingly known by most of his life) was born in Yonkers, New York November 27, 1957. His wonderful father, William Watson, married his high school sweetheart, Jean Reid Watson, a self-taught gourmet home cook.
Dave was the unexpected twin brother, born 15 minutes after his big brother, Doug Watson and the little brother to his lovely sister, Pam.
He attended the local schools in Yonkers and was raised in their family home his entire young life...to include a membership to the community country club, where his attendance shaped his passion for new sports like water polo, tennis and eventually becoming the house bartender; this experience would serve him well in his future career in the hotel industry.
He is alumni to the Fordham University in Yonkers, where he played some serious football (his passion) and earned an “All American Player” title.
When Dave visited his brother, who had moved to Southern California in the 1980s, he became enamored with the beach and all the beauty that it offered. He went back home to Yonkers and shared with his parents he was moving to Southern California. While his parents would have long distance from their two sons, they supported the decision the Watson way.
At work, Dave was the old fashioned corporate-climber within the hotel industry. He started in various entry level positions until he reached the General Manager position while also pursuing his passion for triathlons. He put in the long, hard training hours before heading to his hotel responsibilities.
In the early 1980s, he met Evelyn, who lovingly became his wife, and happily became the father to Rianna, Evelyn’s daughter.
In the late 1990s, Dave was a cancer survivor at City of Hope; the final outcome gave him 30 more years to share his life will those he loved and whom loved him. Thank you, Lord.
Dave is dearly missed by Evelyn, Rianna, big brother Doug, sister Pam, as well as his three grandsons, Gabriel, Jaden and Alex. Also missed by his in-laws, family and church family.
We all remain in God’s peace knowing that Dave is now in heaven, with his parents and grandparents.
