Ann Elizabeth Cofer Tally Jackson
Sunrise: September 7, 1933 Sunset: April 28, 2023
Ann Jackson wanted to hold on just a little longer to spend more time with her children and grandchildren, family members and close friends, but God called her from labor to reward on Friday, April 28, 2023. Ann, one of fourteen children, was born to her beloved parents, Walter and Elnoria Cofer. Ann Jackson was a woman who believed in the Lord God and on Sundays, her large family trekked to Bethlehem Church of God Holiness in Washington, DC. She attended District of Columbia Public Schools.
John D. Tally, Sr. courted her, and they eloped when she was 18 years old. To this union, John Jr. and Joann were born. In raising her family, she instilled in them to always love and respect God, by living a holy life. After her beloved husband passed away at an early age, Ann met Carl D. Jackson at their local supermarket, fell in love and later married. To this union Llewellyn and Candice were born.
There always was an abundance of love and unity and fun at home. Ann and Carl exposed the family to camping and discovering how Mother Nature was all around us and to appreciate it. One of her favorite camping sites was El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, California. She would always keep the kids busy with activities like church, Girl Scouts, wood crafts, and things that loving parents do with their children. Ann was very creative, she loved to paint sailboats moving swiftly in the water and the beauty in showing detail in sunsets at dusk. As the family grew, Ann shared some of her artistic talents in ceramics, painting, sewing, crafts, and traveling to learn other cultures. Ann’s kids and grandkids enjoy some of these activities to this day.
Ann Jackson will be sorely missed by her sons John Tally, Jr., (Bernarda), Llewellyn T. Jackson, by her daughters Joann T. Fields, and Candice B. Archer, (John), 14 grandchildren, Rochelle Elizabeth Fields-Knox, Terri-Ann Fields, Richard Wayne Fields, David Fitzgerald Fields, Christina Marie Fields-Boner, Anisha Aafriyie Fields, Melody Ann Tally, Chloe’ J. Capito (Patrick), Dr. John B. Tally, (Ari), Naomi Ann Archer, Joshua Jackson Archer, Taylor Renee Emma Archer and Hunter Christian Archer. 7 Great-grandchildren, Bishop Earl Bonner, Symone Marie Bonner, Robert Richard Knox, Lennox Capito, Maddox Capito, Hendrix Capito, Zuri Tally, her brothers, Elder Samuel B. Cofer, Sr., (Rosie), Walter Cofer and sisters Delores Godbold (Dr. Donald Godbold), and Alma Glover. Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters: Odell Pierce, Curtis Cofer, Ruby Johnson, Bernice Johnson, Dorcas Baker, Timothy Cofer, Earlene Potts, and Charles Cofer, Sr
When Joann was only 9 years old, she and Carl were in a motorcycle accident. Joann was in a body cast and Carl had many injuries including a broken leg. Ann went to work to provide for the family. Carl stayed home and took excellent care of the kids while he was healing too which wasn't easy for him. God was faithful and gave the family the strength to endure during this time.
Ann stressed the value of education and how important it was to be successful as a productive citizen in society. Ann also put the fear of God in all her children, and it still remains in them to this day. Ann was strict and stern but loving. She was devoted to the Lord and as a member of the Bethlehem Church of God Holiness Church in Los Angeles, California, Ann served as president of the Purity Club and taught young boys and girls how to perform household duties and to love their neighbors. She and her sister, Earline Potts, served as Sunday school teachers and Sunshine Band assistants. Ann was fully involved in serving the Lord.
In loving memory of Ann, she leaves behind family and friends that love her and will miss her dearly. May her memory be a blessing in Christ’s name and may she rest well with the Lord Jesus Christ.
A funeral service for Ann will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM, 23857 The Old Road, Newhall, CA 91321.
