She is survived by her parents Guadalupe and Elida Cantu; her sister Sonia(Javier) Cantu Garcia; her brother Fernando(Rosita) Cantu; and by her nieces and nephews Karina Cantu, Damian Cantu, Francisco Garcia, Javier Garza, Guadalupe Garza and Emiliano Garza.
She was a beloved daughter, cherished sister and adored aunt. She loved and spoiled her nieces and nephews. Sylvia was a hardworking compassionate nurse. She was an advocate of patient care and an advocate of education. She worked for over 15 years as a nurse on the floor and for a home health agency. Then she worked in administration at the hospital and at a home health agency. Most recently she was accepted to a teaching position at Rio Grande Medical College. She was excited over her new endeavor. She was going to be able to teach future nurses and still be on the floor at the hospital during clinicals on the weekends. She made a lasting impression with her big smile and willingness to conquer all. She never gave up and was resourceful in so many ways especially at her profession. She will be extremely missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel, Chapel of Serenity in Mission from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary recited at 5:00 pm.
