It is with heavy hearts we announce that Rolando “Role” Alvarez made his journey to be with Our Lord and Savior, surrounded by love on Sunday, March 16, 2025. He was born November 23rd, 1958, in Mission, Texas.
Rolando is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Alvarez and Ernestina Alvarez; and sisters Maria de Rosario Reynoso and Anna Prescott. Rolando was a man of faith who was happily married to his wife Irma Mireya Lamas (Alvarez) for 27 years.
Rolando served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He worked with Border Patrol (ICE) for 30 years. After his retirement in 2015, Rolando worked in Afghanistan for a year.
He was a dedicated and loving father to his beautiful children, Rolando Antonio Alvarez and Mireya Rebecca Alvarez, and his godchildren John, Lucianna, Thalia and Ginny Hernandez. His family was everything to him. He loved our tradition of Pizza Fridays! Towards the end, Rolando endured many obstacles, with love, support, and unwavering faith in God and listening to God’s voice making him push through and overcome these trials. He showed immense strength in his recovery after a double amputation: going up and down steps and hopping in his truck for a mini drive session; he was resilient. His stubbornness and pickiness were his best traits.
In addition to his children and wife, Rolando is survived by his brother, Javier Alvarez; and sisters Alma Trevino, Belia Corbett, Alva Thompson, Adela Alonzo and Nora Ramirez.
