Raul is survived by his wife, Oralia D. Gonzalez and his three daughters Sandra Lizeth Gonzalez, Monick Gonzalez-Turner and Stephany Gonzalez-Del Rio, his two grandchildren, Alessandro Fidel Chacon and Lucas Manuel Fairley, his brothers and sisters, Oscar Gonzalez, Linda Raquel Rodriguez, Raul Gonzalez III, Olga Gonzalez, Letty Gonzalez, Ramiro Gonzalez, Juan "Johnny" Gonzalez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raul Gonzalez and Margarita Jasso and his beloved sisters, Raquel Magallan and Gloria Ovalle.
Raul was born in Mcallen Texas, May 22, 1938 to Raul Gonzalez and Margarita Jasso. Raul served in the United States Army, he returned home where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas Pan American and went on to complete his Master of Arts degree from Western Michigan University. He worked for Gov. William G. Milliken, as the administrative assistant for urban affairs, and devoted his career to teaching and ultimately working for the Texas Department of Human Services, he retired in 2003. He took pleasure in reading his extensive collection of books, traveling to Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, which was his favorite city. He enjoyed learning and studying American and Mexican History, in his life, he visited several countries. He enjoyed taking care of his beloved pets, and as a true Texan he delighted in Whataburger.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, he was a loyal friend to many. He loved his two grandchildren dearly. Dad, you were our rock, our pillar, and we will miss you dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans home, for the great care provided to him. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Del Angel Funeral home in Mission, Tx.
