She attended McAllen high school where she was a part of the dance team, the Steppers, for three years and graduated class of 87’. After high school, Martha, then attended Pan American University and graduated with a degree in Communication Disorders. Martha worked as a Special Education teacher then later obtained a degree in Speech Language Pathology. She then began working as a speech therapist assistant for McAllen ISD.
Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Alicia de la Cruz-Lopez, who lost her battle to cancer, March 23, 2004. She is survived by her father, Adan de la Cruz Sr., her beloved husband, Juan Javier Rodriguez, children Monica A. Enriquez, John N. Enriquez, Daniella M. Enriquez, step children Laura A. Rodriguez and Alex J. Rodriguez, grandchildren Jayden H. Brown, Devin Smith, David A. Smith, and Camila J. Smith, and Brothers Adan de la Cruz Jr. and Ismael R. de la Cruz.
She will be remembered for her nurturing, compassionate, patient, and welcoming personality. As well as her devoted service to her church and community. She was a special individual whose love and laughter could fill any room. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors.
Martha was fortunate enough to have touched so many lives and to have also been loved by so many. The family would like to thank and are greatly appreciative to those who cared for her during her journey through life.
