Mary B. Young, our beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025 at the age of 100. Her unwavering strength, kindness, and love left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born on February 2, 1925 in La Feria, Tx, Mary was the heart of our family, dedicating her life to nurturing and inspiring others. Her home was always filled with laughter, stories, and cherished memories.
She was a devoted Christian mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, whose wisdom and generosity touched countless lives. Mary’s passion for gardening and the LORD always brought her joy, and she took great pride in giving back to her community. As a lifelong McAllen resident, Mary, alongside her beloved husband John, founded a small family business, “Young’s Snow Wiz” in 1973, which after 52 years, still serves the community today.
She is survived by her loving children John T Young Jr (Diana), Janie Young, Eddie Young (†), Robert Young (†), Irene Young, Jesse Young (Irma), Mary Alice Zamora (Homer), Martin Carl Young Sr., Eric Young and Jesenia Young (Yvan), 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Mary has now moved to heaven with her beloved John T Young Sr.(†) and those who passed before her.
Throughout the latter part of her life, Legacy Hospice was entrusted with her care. We would like to acknowledge her doctor, Dr. Jere M. Johnson, and all of her team of amazing nurses (Amanda, Yanelly, Daniel, and Maria) that selflessly and tirelessly worked 24/7. We are eternally grateful for your unwavering and diligent care for our mother, you all came as nurses and left as family.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 29, 2025 with viewing from 5pm to 9pm with a Prayer service at 7pm at Funeraria Del Angel 3611 N Taylor Rd., Mission TX 78573. A funeral will occur Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel with a burial following at 11:00 am at Valley Memorial Gardens 3605 N. Taylor Rd, Mission, TX 78572
