Maria Guadalupe Valadez

Maria Guadalupe was born in Monterrey, Mexico on September 9, 1924. She graduated from Mission High School and Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas and obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Maria Guadalupe was married to Ventura Valadez on October 4, 1946; they were married 57 years.

Maria's favorite activities were her Church, her family, her much loved plants, cooking for others, her walks, her sewing, arts and crafts and concern for those around her. "She selflessly touched the lives of everyone who came in contact with her. She was deeply religious and devoted her life to her Catholic faith." She also enjoyed her RV trips with her husband and family. She taught Spanish at many schools in McAllen and was loved by her students.

Maria Guadalupe is survived by her sons, Dr.Charles David (Madeline), David Joe (Patricia) and Robert Allen; her grandchildren, Julia Chaffe, Charles David Jr., Raevan Mariel, Ashley Marie, Kristin Dolores and Victoria Leigh; great grandchildren, Daniel Joseph, Layla Gray, Phoenix Bella, Dean Everett, Dawson Tyler, and Zuri Dawn. She is also survived by her sister, Norma Ayala and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria Guadalupe is preceded in death by her husband, Ventura S. Valadez, Jr., parents, Jesus M. and Dolores G. de los Santos, siblings Enrique de los Santos, Lucila Rivera, Jesus de los Santos, Jr., Emma Lopez, Mario de los Santos and Aida Davis, and grandchild Rhett Allen.

Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 9 pm with a 7 pm Rosary and Family Sharing on Sunday, May 30th, at Funeraria del Angel Funeral Home at Valley Memorial Gardens, in McAllen, Texas.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 31st at 2pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Funeraria del Angel.
