Maria Hinojosa lived a life of love and joy, with various passions that made her time enjoyable. Her true passion was loving, supporting, and spending time with her family. She was a fixture at football, basketball, and volleyball games, swim meets, graduations, parties, and FFA events for both her children and grandchildren.
In addition to supporting her family, she also gave her energy to volunteering at EB Reyna Elementary and La Joya Memorial Middle Schools. She was also a co-founder of the Hidalgo Buccaneers TYFA organization, which continues to service and help the youth of South Texas.
She had an avid love of cooking as she would prepare delicious courses for both holidays and everyday life, making tamales, fideo con carne, aroze con pollo, calabaza con puerco and various other recipes. Her cooking would always be beyond compare.
Another passion included traveling to her favorite destinations with family and friends, such as Las Vegas, Nevada and San Antonio, Texas. She loved going to watch Spurs games and her favorite player, Tim Duncan. She enjoyed watching the Spurs win multiple championships live at the arena in 2007 and 2014. She also delighted in traveling with her husband and others to rodeos in both Las Vegas and San Antonio.
