Lydia was full of love for her family; she was a friendly, outgoing and talkative person. She had a bubbly personality and was always the life of the party. Her favorite past time was dancing in her high heels which she had a passion for and drinking her shot of tequila. She loved to dance ballroom, salsa, merengue and belly dancing up until she was 90. She enjoyed shopping and had a lot of pride finding bargains. She was a coach’s wife and mother for the football team and was a loyal supporter of her husband and son. She was affectionately known as their “number one fan”. In 1937 she was crowned Ms. Corpus Christi. She had been an avid member of the Pan American Round Table and the International Women’s Club for many years. Lydia and her husband were also members of the Alhambra Catholic Adult Organization for many years.
Lydia is preceded in death by her husband, Coach Everardo Carlos (E.C.) Lerma, her son Everardo Carlos Lerma Jr and her two brothers Leo Campbell and Frank Campbell. Lydia is survived by her children; Patricia Unsinn Lerma and Coach John Campbell Lerma. Grandchildren; Bill Lerma Unsinn, Eric Lerma Unsinn (Shelly), Christa Alize Palmer (Adam) and Audree Rae Hamilton Lerma. Great grandchildren; Isla Hateya Unsinn, Everett Carlos Unsinn, Sophie Marie Unsinn and Hunter Peter Palmer.
Family will receive friends Monday, May 11, 2015 from 4-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel in Mission. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria del Angel in Mission, a dignity memorial provider, 3611 N. Taylor Rd. in Mission
