Tio Pepe was born on September 15, 1939, in Mexico to parents, Benigno Salas and Catarina Torres. Pepe is preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
Tio Pepe was a baker in his prime years and dedicated most of his life to lovingly care for his mother "Catita" until she passed away. Tio Pepe then proceeded to live in the company of his sister Maria and together they helped raise some of Maria's grandchildren giving Tio Pepe the grandfather experience regardless of him not having children of his own.
Tio Pepe was always visited and surrounded by many nieces and nephews who fondly remember having a simple meal prepared for them when requested. Tio Pepe would just respond, "Si, como no" when those who knocked on his door asked him to make Chicharron en Salsa, Papas a la Mexicana, Migas, or Huevos Rancheros with specific instructions for him to drown these simple dishes with his famous hot sauce.
"Tio Pepe" was everyone's uncle. Everyone who knew him and those who did not but who knew of him, would refer to him as "Tio Pepe".
Humanity has much to learn from Tio Pepe who regardless of his lack of worldly material possessions, never complained and was not a person to anger. Tio Pepe was a kind and gentle soul who never had a harsh word to say about anyone and who appreciated every little thing in life.
Jose "Tio Pepe" Salas, passed away in the same manner in which he lived his life, Peacefully, and will be remembered as a father figure, loving uncle, brother and son".
