He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Alberta Mata; sisters, Guadalupe M. Cantu, Delia Fonseca, and Irma E. Mata.
Jose Ruben Mata was a local business owner of Ruben's Auto Parts. He was a successful Land Developer from 1984 - 2015, he also served in The US Army from 1965 - 1968.
Jose Ruben Mata is survived by his beloved wife, Blanca F. Mata; his children, Jose Ruben (Jessica) Mata II, Georgina R. Mata, Georgette M. Mata; stepson, Rodolfo (Lizette) Franco; first marital children, Belinda (Jose ) Longoria, Gracie (Jose) Montelongo; grandchildren, Adriel Mata, Adriano Mata, Aleena Mata, Mia Franco, Victoria M. Longoria, Valeria M. Longoria; Johanna Montelongo, Josiah Montelongo; siblings, Ricardo (Jean) Mata, Juan (Flor) Mata, Elise (✝Juan) Delgado, Ofelia (Juan A.) Pena, Nelda (Luis) Olivares, Yolanda (Albert) Sanchez; brother in law, Crisóforo Cantu Jr. and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation for Jose will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM for family and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM for public at Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78573 with a rosary at 7:00 PM.
The funeral mass will occur Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 620 N Dunlap Ave, Mission, Texas 78573.
The burial will follow the mass at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78572.
