Hortencia, affectionally called Tencha, was born in Mission, Texas on January 7, 1938. She was the 5th child of Alberta Bourbois Lazo and Ramon Rodriguez Ramirez. Her maternal grandparents were Juanita Lazo Villarreal and Agustin Bourbois Foster, both of Mission. Her paternal grandparents were Tirsa Ramirez Garcia and Doroteo Rodriguez Ramirez, from Rancho San Pedro, Mexico.
In addition to the love of her parents, Tencha was also blessed with the love, affection and admiration of grandparents, aunts and uncles and all of her sisters and brother. Tencha was always a loving and constant support to her mother and a mentor and friend to her sisters and brother.
Tencha dutifully and honorably served our country for 34 years in the Department of the Treasury, U.S. Customs Service as a Special Agent and Intelligence Research Specialist. During her tenure, Tencha received numerous awards, certificates and recognitions from the Commissioner of Customs, as well as the Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney's office. During her career, she was assigned cases in New Jersey, Mexico City, Panama and various other cities. She was based in Houston, San Antonio and McAllen.
Tencha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Norman Theodore Buselmeier, parents Alberta Bourbois and Ramon Rodriguez, siblings Roldolfo, Isabel, Lydia, and Maria Enriqueta.
Left to grieve her passing are sisters Irma Miller (The Woodlands), Gloria Lamar Transki (Santa Barbara) and Juanita Olivarez (Austin), as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wants to express their deep gratitude to Tencha's caregivers, Nancy Martinez and her family, and Maria Lopez. Their loving care and affection contributed to Tencha's happiness and well being. We are also grateful to the professional and caring nurses of OPUS Care Hospice.
