24th, 2023. Chris was born on December 28th, 1984, to Oscar and Michelle Chapa in Houston,
Texas. As a toddler, Chris was curious, happy, and fascinated with all small things, which he
developed into a 3D printing hobby later in life.
After Chris graduated from George West High School in 2003, he joined the US Navy in 2005
and was stationed at Whidbey Island in Washington state. Chris fell in love with the rugged
beauty of the state and the Northern Pacific island he lived on and intended one day to return.
During his enlistment, he was assigned to a station in Afghanistan between 2008 and 2009
where he made life long enduring friendships.
After Chris’s military career ended in 2009, he returned to Texas to start his civilian life and met
his partner of 14 years, Crystal Jesus Muniz. They eventually settled in McAllen with a lively
pack of rescue animals, a passion they shared together. Chris had a love for words and
language which he honed in his podcast, “Human Delicatessen.” As he termed it “ A deep dive
into true crime and the bazaar”. He had a singular wit and humor to which no one was immune
or lacking as a target, but always good natured and funny.
Chris is survived by his father Oscar and wife Carol, his mother Alice Michelle Chapa, his sister
Angela Marie Lindholm and husband Charles, and nieces Taylor and Emilee Fisher. Chris is
also survived by his brothers Timothy and wife Julie, David and wife Rhonda and Greg and wife
Rachel and his son Kaiden Alexander. As well as numerous uncles, aunts, and their children.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made: https://tadsaw.org/ “train a dog, save a warrior.” An
organization that provides rescue dogs that have been evaluated to become service dogs for
wounded warriors surviving with PTSD/TBI, an issue that Chris was most passionate about. He
will be missed, and we are enriched for having him in our lives.
A visitation for Christopher will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78573, followed by a celebration of life and sharing memories at 4:00 PM.
