CENOVIO ALFREDO "FRED" CANTU, SR. McALLEN - Cenovio Alfredo "Fred" Cantu, Sr. 75 went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2014 in Edinburg. Cenovio was born on October 30, 1938 in McAllen, Texas to Juan Manuel Cantu, Sr. and Lydia Cantu de Cantu. He was a graduate from McAllen High school in 1956 and served in the Army Reserve for 12 years. He worked for O'neall Specialty for 18 years; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 14 years and Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 13 years. He was also a proud member of the Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce for 14 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Manuel and Lydia Cantu; his brothers, Baldemar Cantu, Gilberto Cantu, Adalberto Cantu, Sr. and sister, Lina Cantu Villarreal. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Delia Teresa Cantu; his children, Anita C. (Jose Bernabe) Munoz, Ruben Alfredo (Norma) Cantu, Alma D. (Joe) Torrez and Cenovio Alfredo (Betty) Cantu, Jr. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and siblings, Manuel E. Cantu, Sigfredo Cantu, Sr., Angelica Yount, Irene Varella and Juan Manuel Cantu, Jr. Family will receive friends today, Monday, April 7, 2014 from 3-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel in Mission. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. Interment will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
