Born in Cleveland, Ohio to David and Fanny Bilchik, he spent the first 15 years there when the family decided to move to California so he, his Grandmother, his sister Gerre, his Mother and Father boarded a train to start a new adventure.
While attending Figueroa Jr. High, he helped Uncle Benny at his veterinary practice at night and during surgeries.
With his parents, he moved to West Los Angeles and attended Hamilton High School but ended up graduating in 1952 from Fairfax High School.
In 1953 he was drafted into the army and did his basic training at Fort Ord, then was shipped to Fort Lewis in Washington, where he applied for schooling as a company clerk, more training in San Francisco and then back to Fort Lewis. He served honorably for two years.
After a short stint in the aluminum siding business, he ventured into the flooring business and opened Stan Bilchik Carpet Company where his sons joined him. Stan retired in 2008.
He married Teri Janssen in 1960 and had two sons, Richard and Daniel.
In 1990 he met the person he would spend the rest of his life with, Pauline.
One of his greatest pleasures in life was going to Maui, Hawai’i with his kids and grandkids, spending many hours surrounded by the ones he loved and the ones who loved him.
He is survived by his loving partner Pauline Daerr, son Richard (Tracy) Bilchik, son Daniel (Marci) Bilchik, grandsons Jonathan and Kyle, granddaughters Tara and Kameron, great granddaughter Hayden, sister Gerre Chudacoff, nephews and niece and his beloved pets, Lucky, Tommy and Twiggy.
Services will be held at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345 on Thursday June 29th at 2:00 p.m.
