Harlan hired me to teach Humanities at LA Mission College. He was my mentor. I am very sad to hear of his passing.  I was lucky to know him!  My condolences to his family.

Harlan was my partner in PACE when I first came to Mission in 1993.  I loved his sense of humor and his passion for music and photography.  I think of him often and was hoping to see him again.  I'm deeply saddened by the news of his passing.  My condolences to Barbara and his children.

Harlan was an "original" and he was one of the first faculty to welcome me on campus at Mission. After that, I knew I had a friend and he watched out for he as a "probationary." His students loved him and in return they baked him all kinds of great foods. He never went hungry when on campus. I'm very sad of his passing but I hope you can feel some comfort in the fact that he was well liked by many of us.

Fred and Harlan were friends for 45 years.  Fred became friends with Harlan in 1971 at Luchetti's Drum Store in Albuquerque.  Harlan was his drum teacher.  They both attended the University of New Mexico.  After they graduated from UNM they took off to Boston to attend Berkley School of Music where they were definitely starving artists.  When Harlan moved back to Albuquerque last October; their friendship took up where it had left off .  Harlan was a very interesting, intelligent person.  He will be greatly missed!

To the Goldberg family, Harlan will always have a place in my heart and thoughts. I will treasure the memories of the fun we had at work and home. I will cherish the long conversations over the phone and the lunches where we shared with others our thoughts about world issues, vacations, and your wonderful passion for the Arts.  My family will miss you but your legacy will live on forever.

Harlan was my brother-in-law and a wonderful uncle to my two children. He taught my daughter how to drive.  He inspired my son to become a drummer. I have memories of him leading the Passover Seder in his own unique way, of him telling stories of artists, painters and musicians as though they were long lost friends. His passing was too soon.  He will be missed and he will be remembered.

Beloved Goldberg Family,  Harlan helped me with the AFT Union Facully Guild and Eloise with the Academic Senate build his Life Long Dream of serving the next generations of students for generations to come by Building LA Mission College from its earliest days in old San Fernando in 1974 to the new campus in Sylmar. He was a wonderful joyful friend of my family. Prof. Charles E. Dirks honored by the State as "The Faculty Father of LA Mission", Eloise is mother of the college. Dearest Goldberg family,
Harlan was my friend for 40 years. We shared stores about everything you can imagine as Harlan was so creative and funny. We enjoyed laughter with him at the center. He was a true humanitarian and I consider it a honor to have known him. May God care for you as you grieve your loss.
