Dania Berman (née Avol) left the earthly body that could no longer contain her magnificent spirit on December 4, 2021. Born August 31, 1933 in Warsaw, Poland, to Oscar and Lonia Avol, Dania endured the Holocaust before immigrating with her father and sister Betty to America (her mother having been killed in Auschwitz). They settled in California where Dania met and married the late Wallace Berman.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, son Dr. Larry F. and wife Cyndie Berman and daughter Lorri Michelle Bernson, grandchildren Ashley and Briggs Ahearn, Alexis and Hunter Trotman and Alyssa R. Berman, great granddaughter Olivia Ryland Ahearn, and sister Betty Persion, in addition to many other beloved friends and relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Dania was pre deceased by her dear brother-in-law Ken Persion.
Dania always put her family first and was a huge presence and influence in all of our lives. She never hesitated to give advice and loved us all fiercely. She left an example of strength and fortitude with how she lived her life and overcame every obstacle put in her path.
Dania lived a life of independence and adventure as well. She began a career in real estate after her children were grown which she continued until her retirement. In addition to her family, her passions included Guide Dogs of America, travel, card games and current events. Dania always stayed relevant and kept abreast of everything, never allowing her vivacious spirit and keen mind to age. This world is poorer for her loss but infinitely richer for her having been in it.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, especially Lita, and Dr. James Waisman for their compassionate care of Dania.
