(1962-2024)
Cheryl Adler fought a courageous 15 year battle against early onset Alzheimer’s. She passed away at Magnolia Gardens at the young age of 62. She was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. While her children were young, she worked with her Aunt Nancy Kaneshiro at her public relations firm Sayles /Morgan Associates. When her children were grown, she returned to college and earned a bachelor’s degree at CSUN and a masters at Pepperdine University. She was a licensed marriage and family therapist, a career cut short due to the onset of this illness. Cheryl’s passions were the LA Kings, volunteering at Chicken Soup and being with her loving family.
Cheryl was predeceased by her beloved parents, Larry and Wilma Wagman, and parents-in-law Michael and Joyce Adler. She leaves behind her former husband Jeff, who she met when she was Sweet 16. They were blessed with a marriage that lasted over 35 years. She will be missed by her daughter Hillary (Chris) Sampson, her son Scott (Ramona) Adler, and her precious granddaughter Tara Adler. She will be remembered as a wonderful sister by her brothers Steven (Cara) Wagman and Marc (Julie) Wagman. Auntie Cheryl was very special to her nieces Katie, Ashlee, Alissa and nephews Will, Dolan, Jack Hyatt, and Blake. Her smile, hearty laugh, smarts, and zest for life will be missed by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
The cure for early onset Alzheimer’s is on the horizon. When Cheryl was diagnosed in 2008, she agreed to donate her brain to the UCLA Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Care. We hope this donation will help other families battling this disease.
