Cecile Petrak was born on October 19, 1918, and passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at her Valley Glen residence. She was known for her warmth, humor, and undeniably loving spirit she brought into this world.
Cecile will be lovingly remembered, and her memory will be cherished by her children, Jonathan Petrak and Marisa Napora, along with their spouses, Cindy Petrak and Todd Napora. She also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Sarah Petrak, Jessie Petrak, Andrew Petrak, and Asia Ortiz. Along with her immediate family, which consisted of blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Cecile was cherished deeply by many.
Among Cecile’s most significant accomplishments was being a mother and raising her two children, whom she raised with love, compassion, and tenderness. She was a strong-willed woman who fought to form the LAUSD teacher’s union and was a Kindergarten teacher for 35 years, which was her passion in life. She loved to travel and traveled the world with various travel groups and hosted people from different countries at her home. She also was an active member of her temple, Adat Ari El.
Cecile’s children would also like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Yvonne, Laarni, and Joyce, who always stayed by her. Their care and compassion kept Cecile alive and well cared for while she lived out her life at her Valley Glen home. They treated her with dignity and love, and they became one of the Petrak family.
Many will miss Cecile, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of every soul she touched.
A funeral for Cecile Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Groman Eden Mortuary immediately followed by a graveside service.
