Carl and I were stamp collecting buddies for many years.
I have many stamps in my collection that came from Carl.
When I look through my Washington-Franklin plate number singles, I can remember the ones that came from Carl.
He is still missed.
Remember, we all die twice. Once when our last breath leaves our body and again when the last person who remembers our name passes on.

Every Christmas we would have dinner for the PSLA club.

On behave of the American Plate Number Single Society, we send our condolences to the family of Carl Shaff II.  
Carl was a Life Member of the Society and a regular contributor to the activities of the Society.
He was an avid collector of plate number singles, an award winning exhibitor, a contributor to our auctions and a local stamp dealer.  
Carl spent a generous amount of time and knowledge to the hobby as well as individual conversations with collectors to expand their knowledge.
Carl will be missed by all those who knew him.
Again, our sincere condolences to the Shaff family.

Funeral

At 10:00 a.m.

Carl was a great friend and mentor.  I enjoyed visiting him once a month at his booth at the Arcadia Stamp Show for at least a dozen years.  I was sad when he left California, and I am even more sad that I never got to visit him in Nashville.  I would sit at his table for hours looking through his vast collection of stamps for sale and finding many interesting ones to add to my collection. He taught me things to look for and new ways to collect common stamps like looking for varieties and differently colored cancellations, slogans, or "fancy cancels".  Carl had so many stories to tell about each stamp, or about politics, or about life in general.  Most of the stamps in my collection I don't remember where I bought, but there are many I recognize and know I got from Carl.  I will remember him forever.
