She was born in Melville, Saskatchewan to a family of 6 brothers and 5 sisters. The family was the first generation of Hungarian immigrants who settled in Saskatchewan under the Canadian Land Act. Mom moved to Mission as a young teenager, where her family had a large farm on 7th Ave. This is where she met the love of her life, the late James Edward May. They were married for 57 years. Dad built her a home on Wren Street, which was on the acreage that she grew up on. This is where she raised her family.
She will lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by her daughters Brenda (Alex), Cindy (Lee), Vonnie (Russ), Tammy (Keith); sons Mark, Calvin, Sid and a special mom to Tonya; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Frank & Julianne Simon; her husband Jim; son Randolf and granddaughter Nicky.
Mom was a devoted daughter who took care of her parents. Family brought much joy and happiness to her life and when she wasn’t busy with family she enjoyed reading, bingo, gardening, sports and spending time with Dad in Harrison.
A family Graveside Service for Mom and Dad will be held at Hatzic Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canuck House, Abbotsford or a charity of your choice.
A special “Thank you” to Dr. Frew, and the home support workers who showed kindness and compassionate care to our mom, also to friends and family for their kind words and support.
