With great sadness, after a long brave battle with cancer, the family of Mark James Mitchell announce his peaceful passing on April 4, 2025 at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission Memorial Hospital in Mission, British Columbia, at the age of 81.
He was born in a parcel number farm house at his parents homestead in Saskatchewan on September 11, 1943, and relocated to Whonnock BC with his family at the age of 7, and lived his life in the lower mainland.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years Marie, sisters Kathleen and Shannon, Brother Ross, son Cam and his wife Lise, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, Nephew/brother Lee Babcook, Honorary brother Peter Ens, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and Oliver his cat.
He was predeceased by both of his Parents Jim and Mary, his sisters Laura and Lois, all his numerous uncles and aunts, and many of his cousins.
Mark wanted to see people on their terms, not his, so requested no service to be held to tell people when they had to say their last good-bye if you haven’t already done so. Please contact Cam if you would like to have an informal celebration of life.
Mark was at peace with his God, his family and friends, customers, suppliers and associates, and most importantly himself when he passed. There was nothing he wished he had done while he was here. He said he would do it exactly the same if he had to do it all over again, and change nothing.
The family wish to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, Volunteers and staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Clinic, Vancouver Cancer Clinic, Mission Memorial Hospital, Fraser Health, The Christine Morrison Hospice and The Mission Hospice Society, for the loving care he received.
Memorial donations may be made on his behalf to: The Mission Hospice Society, or cancer research.
