Herta Johanna Goerzen

Herta Johanna Goerzen entered the gates of Heaven September 17th, 2014. She is survived by her children, Betty (Jack), Cathy, Susan (Gordon), Peggy, Peter (Marilyn), Paul (Casey), David (Joy), and Reuben (Val); 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters (Elsie and Hilda); other relatives, and many friends. Herta was predeceased by her husband, Abe (1988); two sons, Arthur (1949) and Hank (1988); and grandson, Tyrel (2010).

Her primary career was that of wife and mother. When her youngest child began elementary school, she embarked on her 25 year career in Canada Post, retiring as Mount Lehman Post Master in 1992.

Herta’s hands were never still. She loved driving, knitting and crochet, reading, puzzles, and visiting, continuing many of these activities until this summer.

A celebration of her life was held at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church on September 23rd, 2014. Donations may be made to Mission Hospice Society, Mission, BC.
