If you were ever given the opportunity to meet Barry, your life became blessed and enriched. Barry showed his love to everyone by sharing his gifts of music, woodworking, building or fixing something for you. He loved spending time with his continually growing family and once you met him, you became a part of that family.
Barry was born in New Westminster and raised in Coquitlam. His music interest began at age 9 and he started playing guitar. At 16 he started working at The Hudson’s Bay Company then later worked for Coquitlam school board #43 for over 30 years. Barry retired at 55 and filled his days helping others, playing music at church every Sunday, and working on projects in his woodshop and garden.
Inspired by the movie “Do You Believe?”, Barry made palm crosses. Each one carefully handcrafted with love; he handed them out to people he felt needed one. Putting a smile on someone’s face was what he was all about. Barry enjoyed fishing and camping, especially on Fox Island and it gave him great joy to be a part of music jams. He played his guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonicas at weekly ukulele groups, which were always a great time!
Barry was predeceased by his first love Cindy (wife), Daniel “Danny” (eldest brother), Franklin (father), Helena “Lee” (mother), Randy (brother-in-law), and Jean Pierre “JP” (son in-law).
He leaves behind Linda (wife). Amber (daughter) and Laya (granddaughter). Krystle (daughter), her husband Mike and Emma (granddaughter). Lisa (stepdaughter), Brooks and Faye (grandchildren). Andrea (stepdaughter) and Ty (grandson). Amanda (stepdaughter), her husband Josh, and Jack, Joey, Rosie, Max (grandchildren). Samantha (stepdaughter). Parents in-law: Mel and Robbie, Jim and Jennie. Leanne (sister) and husband Ron. Debbie (sister). Garry (twin brother) and wife Jennifer. Diane (sister-in-law). Sandra (sister-in-law) and husband John. Barb (sister-in-law) and husband Bob, and James (brother-in-law).
Barry had many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members. He also held a special place in his heart for his role models Dirk and Betty and Margie and Neal.
Barry loved the many beautiful people that filled his life and he in turn filled ours with love, wisdom and music. Though he is dearly missed, he will never be forgotten.
Till we meet again.
