William Adam Wiktorek, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. He was 74 years old. Born July 17, 1939 in Johnson City, NY, he was the only son born to the late William Adam Wiktorek and Sophia Gaska Wiktorek.
Following graduation from Johnson City High School, Mr. Wiktorek joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served from November of 1958 until August of 1970. He was honorably discharged as a Captain.
Mr. Wiktorek worked in Real Estate Property Management with Morningside Apartments. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7343, V.F.W. Post #9488, and the American Legion. His hobbies included woodworking and fly fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Marie F. Wiktorek; his children, Christine Button, Timothy Wiktorek, William Wiktorek, Daniel Wiktorek, Michael Wiktorek and Amanda Haugen, all presently living in North Carolina; and 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are extended family members that he held dear, including his sister, Kathleen Krise of Broken Arrow, OK; and his lifelong friend, Gene Corey.
His family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road in Charlotte, with the Rev. Patrick Hoare, celebrant.
