Mr. Price, 82, of Charlotte, NC, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital.
His family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227 with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel. The Rev. Peggy Bridgers will officiate.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jean L. Price. Survivors include their four children, Lynn Price Moody and husband, Lee, Mark Price and wife, Pam, Tim Price and wife, Linda, all of Charlotte; Teresa Thornton and husband, Larry, of Mint Hill; brothers, Robert Price and wife Aileen, of Mooresville, and Richard Price and wife Daryl of Fancy Gap, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born October 4, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, NC, Mr. Price was the son of Ruby Stutts Price and Walter Hampton Price. He graduated Oakhurst High School in 1948 and joined the Navy. Returning to North Carolina Mr. Price was employed with Dunbar Stanley in Charlotte, and later started Metrolina Silver Service, a radiology services company. Awarded the BSA Silver Beaver in 1975, Dave was involved in the Boy Scouts for over 35 years, serving as scoutmaster of Troop 101 for 6 years and District Commissioner for the Tusarora District. He was an active member of the Derita Masonic Lodge #715 since 1973. He was a former member of the Mecklenburg Shrine Club Shrine Squares. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman his whole life and was a member of the Dutchman’s Creek Hunt Club.
