William Melzer Hodges Jr.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 25, at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mr. Hodges served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and received the Atlantic War Zone Medal. He retired after a long career in the textile engraving industry in Charlotte. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death in August of 1995 by his wife of 44 years, Iris C. Hodges.

He is survived by four children, Bonnie H. Overman of Concord, Joe Christenbury, Vivian C. Ouimet and husband, Roger, and Vickie C. Huntley and husband, Ben, Jr., all of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jeff Christenbury, Julie C. Smith, Christian J. Ouimet, Nicole O. Filliben, Kelly H. Parsons, Benjy S. Huntley and Brett R. Huntley; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
