On January 30, 2017, in Charlotte, NC, Sally “Gertrude” Gorman, aged 87, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Gertrude was born on August 27, 1929 in Glen Cove, Long Island, the daughter of Anna and Alexander Poznanski. Gertrude graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1947.
Gertrude enjoyed her many hobbies, which depending on the time you were with her, could include collecting antiques, full size looms, spinning wheels, dying yarn, cooking, making root beer and dandelion or tomato wine. Family camping trips in the New York Finger Lakes were often interrupted by Gertrude’s love of antiques in obscure shops and barns along the way and she ultimately opened and ran her own antique shop in Emporium, Pennsylvania.
On December 13, 1948, Gertrude married the love of her life, Vincent Richard Gorman, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. Vincent, an Honorably Discharged World War II United States Marine Corporal, crossed the Atlantic over a dozen times on the USS Lejeune. Vincent was a Bachelor’s Degree Graduate from the American Television Institute of Technology. Together they raised 3 wonderful children and enjoyed their later years in Boynton Beach, FL.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her dear husband Vincent Sr., and siblings Bernard, Benjamin, Anne, Irene, Alexander and grandson James.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter Annice (Theodore, deceased) Krellner of Emporium, PA her son Vincent, Jr (Ellen), Asheville, NC and son Seth (Amy), Matthews, NC. Also, several grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and one great grandson. with another great grand expected in April.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McEwen Funeral Service of Mint Hill, NC. In keeping with Gertrude’s wishes, there will be a private funeral and burial. It is the wish of her family to thank all of those who assisted in her care during the last years of her life.
