Robert Midgley Forshee “Bob”, age 43, beloved husband of Carly (Kidder) Forshee and loving father of Gabriella Stevie (5) and Daisy Elizabeth (2); cherished son of Steven and Kelly (Smith) Forshee, dearest brother of Sarah (Aaron) Allen; adoring Uncle to Grace and Emma, dear cousin, nephew, friend, coach, and teacher to many. He was predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents; Midgley and Daisy (Hooker) Smith and his Paternal Grandparents; Robert and Barbra (Heyer) Forshee.
Bob was born January 4, 1979 in Hornell, New York and passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Midland, North Carolina. He grew up in the beautiful Canisteo Valley, New York where he continued to make trips to visit the countless friends and family who meant so much to him. He graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. In 2004, Bob started his career in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools where he taught and coached at numerous schools. Bob ended his career at East Mecklenburg High School where he was the head football coach. He strived to grow his players into not only strong athletes but strong young men.
Bob followed his father’s footsteps as he loved the outdoors, hunting, golfing, and fishing. He is a self proclaimed Mama’s boy; as a young child, Bob fell in love with every sport imaginable and became enthusiastic about the Buffalo Bills. As a dedicated brother, Bob always maintained a close relationship with his sister, Sarah. He was always by her side, protecting her through phases of life from childhood to moving south and raising kids together.
Bob will be remembered most as a people person and was like a father to many. He was great at making people laugh through his infamous “Bobisms” and creating lifelong memories in every part of his journey. Roaming the woods in the valley to crushing it on the rugby field to building a new chapter in Charlotte, NC as a coach and teacher making countless friends and memories along the way. Bob’s proudest moment in life was marrying Carly and becoming a father to Gabriella and Daisy. He never stopped planning adventures they could all have together.
While he was often fiercely independent, it seemed as if many others looked to Bob for inspiration, leadership, wisdom and even courage. Bob’s love of life didn't come to an end with his passing, it will live on forever through the people that love him. He would want us to continue to honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullest, smiling and exhibiting grace and grit in the face of adversity.
A celebration of Bob’s amazing life will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00pm at the East Mecklenburg Football Stadium, 6800 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Another gathering will be held July 2022 in Canisteo, NY. More information to follow.
