Norris was a dedicated employee of Family Dollar Stores in Matthews, NC for 52 years, going to work for them directly out of school. He traveled extensively throughout the United States as their Warehouse Logistics Specialist. He was strong-willed never letting his disability hinder him from doing or trying anything.
He was very proud to be a 33rd degree Freemason, a member of the Scottish Blue Ridge Lodge, Oasis Shrine Temple, Mecklenburg Shrine Club, and Captain of the Oasis Dune Cats, a parade unit representing the temple. He was very active with all of them for many years.
He loved watching old westerns and smoking cigarettes even though he knew they were bad for him. He was never far away from his cigarettes, lighter, and TV remote. He was dedicated to his wife and family who will miss him greatly, especially his cat, Miss Kitty. They were "best buddies."
Norris is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bobbie Horne; his daughter, Linda Diane; his son, Tommy Mullis (Valera); his twin brother, Morris Horne (Jeanne); his sisters, Tina Brakefield (Smokey) and Mary Ann Walker (Martin); and many other loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life.
