She was born on June 20, 1930, in Mason County, Point Pleasant, WV, to the late Robert Rosco Somerville and Alice (Bush) Somerville. Mrs. Underwood graduated from Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, WV, and obtained an Associate Degree from Marshall College, Huntington, WV.She was a secretary/receptionist for an accountant’s office in Parkersburg, WV. She retired in 1989. In 1990 she moved to Charlotte.She is survived by her children, Karen (Myke) McKinney and husband, Michael, of Midland, NC; Jon Shorter and wife, Roma, of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Megan McKinney Geddings, Meredith McKinney Nelson, Madison Michele McKinney, and Chloe Easton Shorter; great grandchildren, Anderson Geddings, Abigail Geddings, and Avery Nelson; and her aunt, Jean Bush Taylor and husband, Don, Rutherford, NC.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald Underwood.
