Martha Salazar migrated to the United States in April of 1968 from Ecuador. She was only 25 years old when she landed in New York City, and she had hope for a better life in America. Her dream was to learn English, earn money, and purchase a house in the suburbs one day with her husband and children. She was a family woman, a beloved mother of three sons, a loving grandmother to four girls, a sister who had eight siblings, and an aunt to about a dozen nephews and nieces. Martha worked in the garment industry for 40 years. In January 2010 she moved to Charlotte, and dedicated the rest of her life to her grandchildren and disabled youngest son Richard. She enjoyed going out to eat, traveling, and playing cards with her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her three sons, the oldest Fabricio (Charlotte, NC), her middle son Mauricio (Freeport, NY), and her youngest son Richard (Atlanta, GA). She was a faithful woman, who loved the Lord and her family, and she is now with Christ.
Martha will be missed and services will be held at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel on Friday from 5pm-8pm and Saturday 9am-11am. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 am, in the funeral home chapel.
