She was born in Goldsboro, NC in 1945 and attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC. After graduation, she began her 40 year career working in the

healthcare industry.

She moved to Matthews in 2007 in anticipation of the birth of her first grandchild. She spent the next eight years being an active and loving

Nana to her grandson.

In her last weeks, she was surrounded by friends and family who were with her daily and will miss her dearly.

She was a devoted caregiver and friend who loved to dance and never met a stranger. She is survived by one uncle, Willie "Bud" Nethercutt (Four Oaks, NC), three sisters Mary Atwood (Wendell, NC), Cynthia Allen (Four Oaks, NC), Sylvia Wobensmith (Virginia Beach, VA),

one brother Mike Lewis (Cary, NC), two daughters Lauren Hatem (Smyrna, GA), Vickie Traynum (Charlotte, NC) and one grandson Owen Traynum (Charlotte, NC).

A visitation with the family will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Friday, December 4, 2015, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill NC, NC 28227. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.
