Linda Whitaker Barr

Linda Whitaker Barr, 74, of Charlotte, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born in Newport News, VA on September 8, 1942. Linda grew up in Mt. Holly, NC and graduated in the class of 1960 from Mt. Holly High School. She went on to complete an Associate degree from Kings College in Charlotte in 1962.

Upon completion of her studies, Linda worked in Atlanta and Charlotte as an administrative assistant for such companies as General Electric, Coca-Cola, Aetna, PCA Corporation and CIT Corporation. Later in life, Linda enjoyed working with infants at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in their daycare program.

Linda was a member of Mint Hill Baptist Church where she and her husband, Don, were also members of the Hill Sunday School Class.

Linda was predeceased by Don and also her father, Richard Paul Whitaker and mother, Susan Catherine Groner Whitaker.

Linda is survived by her children, Douglas (Kari) Barr of Fort Mill, SC, and Deborah Barr of Charlotte, her brother, Richard Paul Whitaker, Jr. of Mt. Holly and her nephews, Jeff Whitaker of Gastonia and Jason Whitaker of Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC on Friday, July 28, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lee Proctor will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
