John Marvin Kiser, Jr., 80, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012. He was the first son of John Marvin Kiser and Julia Vashti Winston Kiser. He was born on December 6, 1931, in Concord, NC. At age 6, he moved to Charlotte with his family, where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Tech High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate, 3rd Class from 1951 to 1955. After an honorable discharge, he began his career with Perfecting Service Company (later to become Duff-Norton), where he worked until his retirement in 1991. John was also a part time Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College. He was a past Master of Eastgate Masonic Lodge #692 and a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Helen Tucker Kiser, his daughter, Julie Player (Chip) and son, Chris Kiser (Edward), sisters, Kay Holbrook (Brice) of Locust, and Mickey Carrithers (Fred) of Belmont. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, June Brown and brother, Bob Kiser.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 6:30 – 8:30 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at McEwen with Dr. Charles Williamson, Pastor of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, officiating. A graveside service with Navy Honors will be held immediately following at Sunset Memory Gardens at 8901 Lawyers Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church.
