Jim was born January 18, 1937 in Kinderhook, New York to the late Henry DuPont & Elena Decker DuPont. Jim grew up in Hudson, New York. At Hudson Highschool, Jim played baseball. After completing high school, following his older brother Colonel Bob Dupont’s footsteps, he joined the Army and served his country honorably. Jim was a dedicated employee of IBM. His career started in New York and then he transferred to the Charlotte Office where he later retired after 30 years of service.
He had a passion for baseball (especially the Atlanta Braves), people, and tasty food. Jim rarely missed watching a Braves game and has an incredible baseball card collection. Jim loved people and rarely met a stranger. He always was quick with a smile, lots of laughs, and a good story or two. And Jim loved to eat…you always knew he loved the food when he said, “That was tasty!”.
Jim loved the Lord and was a member and baptized at Arlington Baptist Church. He loved his church, singing hymns, and especially his Sunday School class…which meant more to him than words can express.
He so loved his family and is survived by his wife, Sarah Dupont; children Kim Ritchie and husband Tad, and Jim J. DuPont; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Finn; step children, Melanie Swan and husband Andrew and Stephen Pigg and two step grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his late brother, Robert DuPont.
