She was born January 26, 1926 in Seymour, Tennessee to the late Hilbert Marion Willocks and Mae Elizabeth Loveday Willocks.
Helen’s family moved to Charlotte in 1930. She was a member of the Thomasboro High School Marching Band and graduated in 1943. After high school she worked as a School Secretary with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and later retired. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting and gardening. She was an avid traveler and visited all 50 states with her husband, Bill. She was most happy when spending time at their beach cabin. Helen was the recipient of the Honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women.
Helen is survived by her son, John Mark Kemper; stepson, John Swiger; grandchildren, Scott Kemper Campbell, Jennifer Elizabeth Campbell; great granddaughter, Brandy Lee Campbell; step grandchildren, Kristen Martin and John David Swiger.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John William Kemper, husband of 44 years and James Taylor Swiger, husband of 26 years; daughter, Sharon Kemper Campbell; brother, Robert Leroy Willocks and sister, Ada Ruth Bradley.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the rotunda at the church
Burial will be at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208 following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women of Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
