Everette DeMarcus "Mark" Pressley passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. After a courageous battle with cancer, he is no longer in pain and is in his eternal home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and several family members and friends.
Mark, age 50, was born in Bethesda, MD to the late Everette and Peggy Pressley. He grew up in Charlotte and he attended Independence High School. Mark started working in the trucking business at a very young age and worked for Carolina Consolidators and Standard Trucking. He then changed careers and was fortunate to have worked for three amazing men in the landscaping and grading industry, Jimmy Flowe (J.O. Flowe Grading), Tony Pope (Ecoscape Solutions Group) and Kevin Lytle (PureGreen). Mark loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. Mark was actively involved with Mid Carolinas Tres Dias and loved spending time with this Christian Community and growing in his faith.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Moss; Dr. Douglas Villaret; Lauren Day, P.A.; Heather and Zhanna all from Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat for their amazing care. Also, the radiation doctors Dr. Steven Plunkett and Beth; Dr. Michael Haake; oncologist Dr. Daniel Carrizosa and David Jennings, NP at Levine Cancer Institute and Hospice of Charlotte. Mark was blessed to receive such amazing care and support throughout his journey.
Mark is survived by his adoring wife, Bronwyn Pressley; and his precious daughter, Aubrey Pressley, both of Charlotte; his sister, Jean Mims and husband, Buddy, of Mooresville, NC; half brother, Ed Powell of Sevierville, TN; mother and father-in-law, Susan and Dan Wilson, of Little Switzerland, NC; brother-in-law and wife, Chad and Ashley Lewis of Indian Trail; and nieces and nephews, Nikki Gminder (Mike), Neal Mims (Megan), Naaman Mims, Drew Lewis (Lydia), Gracyn Lewis, and Madelyn Lewis. He was also blessed to have many friends that we consider our Chosen Family.
A memorial service will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Charlotte on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Receiving of family and friends will be at 10:00 am, and service to follow at 11:30 am. Officiating are The Reverends Clint Pressley, Casey Norkett, Fred Hoffman and Jerry Welch.
The family is inviting friends to join them for a covered dish reception immediately after the service to celebrate his life. There will be someone available to take the covered dishes before the service.
